Rabies vaccine is required by law! Rabies is a fatal disease that can be transmitted to humans and has no cure. Rabies is an acute, infectious, often fatal viral disease of most warm-blooded animals especially wolves, cats and dogs, that attacks the central nervous system and is transmitted by the bite of an infected animal.

Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccine is strongly recommended especially if your dog will be exposed to other dogs at dog parks, training classes, shows, kennels and groomers. The vaccine is required at boarding kennels and most groomers in our area. It is a semi-annual vaccine.

Pryrantel (Deworming) protects against Roundworms and Hookworms. Most puppies are borne with parasites. A parasite is an organism that derives nourishment by feeding on or within another animal. All parasites of concern can result in damage to your pet’s health. Some parasites can be transferred from your pet to other animals and even to you!

Heartworm is a parasite worm, Dirofilaria immitis. If an infected mosquito bites your pet, it can transfer larvae to the animal’s tissue. The larvae will develop inside the animal and migrate through the body, eventually reaching the animal’s heart and lungs. Once inside the animal’s heart, the worms may grow to 7”-11” long and cause significant damage to the heart and lungs. If left untreated, heartworm disease may result in death. Signs of heartworm disease include coughing, sluggishness, weight loss and difficulty breathing. A simple blood test can diagnose heartworm. Heartworm disease can be treated, but treatment is expensive and can be dangerous. It is best to use a preventative like HeartGard Plus.
